This Shimano light slow jigging combo is a budget overhead style outfit designed for slow jigging for species such as snapper and kingfish and is also more than capable of doing some light mechanical jigging as well. This combo consists of a Shimano Jewel 661 Slow Jig pe1.5-3, paired nicely with a Shimano Torium 14HGA overhead reel. The Shimano Jewel 661 is the perfect rod for light slow jigging with a recommended jig weight of up to 80g but will very easily do Jigs up to 150g. The rod has a soft, slow taper, making it easy to work slow jigs put has plenty of power down low to tackle those bigger fish over the reef. The Shimano Torium matches the rod perfect as it is suited well to carry line anywhere between pe1 (10lb) to pe4 (40lb). It is a strong and robust, yet light little reel, this combo will allow you to jig comfortably all day. The line on this combo is Daiwa J Braid X8 Multi 300m, a good jigging line that will last.
