Bottom bashing the reef edges and gravel patches of the outer reef is an ultra-effective way to get a solid bag of fish, dropping paternoster rigs, Occy jigs or even heavy soft plastics will get you Coral Trout, Nannygai, Trevally, Cobia and other reef species. For this combo we chose the Shimano Spehros 10000, a solid reel with a smooth drag and strong gearing. The Spheros will be able to handle smokings from Sharks and Pealgic by-catch, as well as spray from the ocean. The rod has a soft tip, good for bait fishing and coming in at 6ft6 you'll be able to do anything from jigging to casting lures at surface feeding fish with this setup.
